Salvatore Motta, 92, of Spotswood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Beloved husband of 62 years to Sylvia (nee: Bobe). Devoted father of the late Thomas Motta and his surviving wife Eleanor, Margaret Anderson and husband Richard, Peter Motta and wife Mayra and Salvatore Motta, Jr. and wife Deirdre. Loving grandfather of Lisa (Laszlo) Todor, Christina (Anthony) Pelliccio, Thomas (Elizabeth) Motta, Christopher Motta, Jacquelyn Motta, Nicholas Motta, Celina (Newton) Brown, Bryan Guciardo and Jose Guciardo. Cherished great-grandfather of Katelyn, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexander, Thomas, Eliana, Dominic, Zuri and Lucas. Salvatore is predeceased by his son, Thomas Motta, his sister, Rose Motta and his nephew, John Waldron.
Salvatore was born and raised in the Bronx to the late Thomas and Paolina Motta. He served in the United States Army for a year during the Korean War, and afterwards worked for twenty years at Princely Belt Company in Manhattan, working his way up from stock boy to store manager. From there, Salvatore went on to work for the MTA, working as a bus driver in Brooklyn, train motorman on the Number 2 train in the Bronx and ultimately retired as chief dispatcher.
An avid lover of sports, Salvatore was a true #1 die hard Yankee fan. He also enjoyed playing bocce, talking and telling stories and playing cards with his buddies.
