Carlos Alfonso Gaibor, 84, of Cliffwood, formerly of Florida and Ecuador, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 with his beloved family by his side.
Carlos was born on January 26, 1936 in San Miguel de Bolivar, Ecuador to Leopoldo Gaibor Pazos and Maria Hortencia Erazo and he was one of six children. Carlos spent the first 30 years of his life in Ecuador, pursuing his education and working as an elementary school teacher. On April 29, 1966, Carlos married the love of his life, Leticia Esperanza Gonzalez, and shortly thereafter, they moved to the United States to raise their family. He worked for 30 years as a Mail Services Supervisor for Registrar & Transfer Co. until his retirement in 2001. Carlos had the kindest and most giving of hearts; he absolutely adored his wife and loved having family around him. Carlos also enjoyed a good steak and a cold beer, especially while watching either his beloved Yankees or soccer team, Liga de Quito! At other times, Carlos could be found listening to his old romantic music or outside tending to his vegetables and flowers. His love and devotion will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Carlos is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Leticia Gaibor. Loving father of Harry Gaibor and wife Danielle, and the late Brain Gaibor, who passed away at birth. Cherished grandfather of Amelia Leticia Gaibor. Caring brother of Eduardo of Ecuador, Laura Isabel of Ecuador and the late Holger, Leticia and Elva. Carlos is also the devoted uncle of 17 nieces and nephews from his siblings and 27 nieces and nephews from his wife’s siblings.
Due to the current health crisis, Carlos’s services will be private. Donations may be made in his memory through his personal memorial donation page at www.inmemof.org/carlos-alfonso-gaibor for the Cancer Research Institute
