Lorenz “Larry” Michael Sarlo, 89, a 48 year Matawan resident, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017. Mr. Sarlo was born in NYC to Michael and Mineta (Harrison) Sarlo. Larry proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1945. Larry earned his BS degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and then achieved his Master’s in Nuclear Physics from West Virginia University . He was employed for over 30 years as an electrical engineer for the US Government at Fort Monmouth. After retirement, Larry pursued opportunities in the real estate industry. In addition, he was a longtime communicant of St. Clement’s RC Church in Matawan and was an astrology enthusiast. Larry is predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan D. (Grabowski) Sarlo. He is survived by his loving children and their spouses: Elaine and Daniel Edge of Basking Ridge, Christopher and Debbie Sarlo of Morganville, and Susan and Anthony Vetro of Bridgewater. He is the proud grandfather of: Abigail and Connor Edge, Ava and Hayden Sarlo and Amanda and Emily Vetro. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Sarlo of Hawthorne, NY and his brother-in-law, Frank Grabowski of AZ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1st from 3 -7 pm at the Bedle Funeral Home, 61 Broad Street Keyport, NJ 07735. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 172 Freneau Ave., Matawan, NJ 07747 on Thurs. Feb. 2nd at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Keyport.
